Slut Walk

A sad comment from a Toronto cop led to the formation of the "slut walk", a protest that started at the Ontario Legislation building, and marched down College St to the police Headquarters.
Basically, the officer said that if women didn't dress like sluts, they wouldn't get raped.
That had to have been one of the more stupid things this cop could have said, and it rightly led to some outrage from lots of groups. History has shown that it makes no difference what you wear, where you are, or what your doing when it comes to rape. That, unfortunatley, is a very sad thing. Everyone has a mother, many have a sister or daughter, so its shocking that this kind of thing is still around. Who would wish that on their loved ones?

One of the co-founders of the event, Heather Jarvis, talks with an officer after the event.

The group started at University and College, and simply marched down College a few blocks to the main headquarters of the Toronto Police, led by Heather herself.

Once their, the group began some speeches, calling for more to be done to prevent this from happening. They also took pride in the fact that the rally/walk was going across canada, and possible global to other countries.

I noticed this sign:

in the crowd, and it was rather ironic that one of the people speaking to the crowd was Jane Doe herself. I've blured her face, as there is a publication ban on her image.

As she was raped in her own, locked home, it kind of put a end to the discussion that "its the way you dress" that gets your raped.

A lot of media was there, following the march, and totally surrounding those givingn the speeches.

I also found it ironic that the same street that this group marched down had these all over the utility poles lining the street!
