Global Morning

As was announced a few weeks ago, Global TV will be starting up a new morning show, and the host's would include Liza Fromer, former BT host, who took some time off from TV to have some kids.

As part of the Festival on Bloor today (celebrating the completion of a large amount of construction on the street in the Yonge St area), there was a concert featuring Platinum Blonde. C0-hosting the show was Liza herself.

It was great to see her, as I always enjoyed watching her on BT, so I look forward to the new show. Who could ever forget the incident with the lemure. My favourite moment was when she started quoting an entire scene from Bob and Doug McKenzies Strange Brew!

The future set is still under construction, but was just down the street from her hosting job. Liza said that it will be a great facility, and that fans are welcome to come and say hi during the show.

The other hosts are Dave Gerry, news anchor Kris Reyes, and the press release says "two others" to be announced later. Well, considering how many CityTV people are showing up on Global, maybe they need a great entertainment reporter!

Good luck to you Liza!

Hamilton Airshow

Its been 10 years since they held a full airshow at the Hamilton International Airport. I remember going to one airshow there, years before, when one of the stars of the show was the relatively brand new Stealth Fighter.
The Canadian Warplane Heritage Musuem will be celebrating 40 years next year, and they plan on having a big airshow. To test out the idea, they held a small, 3 hour airshow over the Fathers Day Weekend.

There were definately some problems in running the show, the most glaring being the transportation from the parking area.

Once arriving at the parking area, you ended up in a long line of people waiting for a bus. The problem was that the buses were in the same road that the cars coming into the lot were in, so they got bogged down.

Once on the bus, they drove right to the gate of the Museum, only to drop you off again. Another line up to pay, then another line up to get into another bus, to be driven to the field! That was stupid, and I believe part of the way through they decided to allow people to walk the distance, as eventually the line thinned out, which was good since it was nearly 2, the start of the show.

Once the show began, the airshow was generally good. But as with every event I've attended at CWH, there were problems with the show. Many of the promised formation flights never happened. The ones that they did were simply just passes, not real formations. I would have loved to see both B17's flying with the Lanc, but only the b17's went up at the same time, band simply did once pass each before landing!

Some of the planes included Chuckie,

Memphis Belle (movie version)

Nine harvards,

B25,

WW1 planes

and a formation of fighters including the mustang, corsair, warhawk, spitfire and hurricaine.

Some of the static aircarft included a C-130 hercules,

a CAF rescue Griffon,

A Sea King,

as well as CWH aircraft

Here are some of the other aircraft flying saturday.

Toronto Pro Supershow

The Toronto Pro Supershow visited Toronto for the first of an annual event to celebrate the fitness bussines, and to show off the efforts that both Men and Women put into their bodies.

Some of the events inlcuded a series of events featuring women, which included Bodybuilding Judging in Fitness, Figure Open, Figure Masters, Bikini in the morning, followed by the Oxygen Fitness Model Search and MuscleMag Bikini Model Search in the afternoon.

Now the morning women included some very ripped women.

I have to admit, I'm not a big fan of this kind of look in women, but obviously it was very popular, and the judges had to choose a winner for each division.

In the afternoon, the look was more refined, rather than ripped, and this was to me much more interesting.

Number 17 was my favourite,

and I also had a chance to see her walking around the show.

The show also included the Ontario Amatuer Strongman Competition, in which various strength challenges were on tap, such as lifting a car, hauling heavy chains and carrying weights in each hand, and the challenge of lifting a large diameter stone from floor to the top of a stand, then back to the ground and up again as many times as possible in a set time.

Also on hand were some weight lifting, some combat sports (which were not on while I was there)

as well as many sales pavilions. While many were staffed by further ripped people, some went with some pretty models.

including the girl on the right, who we met outside the building during a quick break from the show.

She was helping her friend with her clothing line, Mode Risque

At the end of the day, I have to say I have not seen so much silicone and tanning products, along with so many ripped people, all in one place!

Friday in Toronto

As I was going to the Toronto Pro Supershow, I decided to take off the day and explore some events in Toronto at the same time.
First trip was to Yonge Dundas Square, where there is always something going on. In the intersection was a hula hoop flash mob, doing a dance combo in the street.

Saw some very attractive monsters!

Saw a famous bubble person!

A couple of angels,

and some Hershey guy with his Hershey car!

I love that this was right outside the Supershow, where the thought of candy probably doesn't enter the mind of most of those inside the convention center!

And saw a Luminato concert with an opening act, The Belle Brigade ;

which was then followed by a free concert by K.D. Lang!

Much thanks to Dan and Michelle who helped with access to the concert!
