Nintendo 3ds

With everyone jumping on the 3-D bandwagon, the number one complaint about the various system (home and in the theater) is the glasses!
Well, Nintendo is the first out of the box with a 3-D gaming system that you won't need glasses to play!
On Saturday, March 26, to mark the release of their new gaming system that evening, Nintendo set up a display in Yonge Dundas Square.
On hand were lots of Nintendo staff, all who had a good knowledge of the gaming system, which is known as the Nintendo 3DS!

With the support of Super Mario himself,

the switch

was thrown

and the crate opened (although really really slow!)

to reveal a series of Nintendo 3DS systems

ready for the line up of people to try out.

Keeping the crowd entertained were staff giving out t-shirts and touques, as well as this lady who was giving out tickets in answer to her many trivia questions about Nintendo game systems.

Speaking of line ups, there was also a line up to get into Future Shop (just across the street) at midnite, in order to buy a system.

Of course, this was a weekend when the TTC trains were not in operation along Yonge St, so the biggest line up was those waiting to take on of the shuttle busses!

Wizard Comic Con

This weekend also saw Wizards Comic Con, at the Direct Energy Centre, which, unfortunately, was not a great deal. THIRTY EIGHT BUCKS to get in at the door!!

But a good idea they had was a sort of autograph row, where all the stars were lined up and ready for pictures!

On hand was Battlestar Galactica's Chief Tyrol, Aaron Douglas,

as well as Col Tigh's wife Ellen, played by Kate Vernon.

The great Bill Dee Williams, the famous Lando Callrisian was on hand,

along with the man who played Chewbacca, Peter Mayhew

was joined with the actor playing the young Aniken Skywalker, future Darth Vader, Jake Lloyd

Former Kids in the Hall star Scott Thompson

Dustin Diamond, the famour Screech, was also on hand,

and seemed to be checking out this girl for his next video!

Claudia Christian, from Babylon 5 was also on hand.

Young Chandler Riggs from AMC's the Walking Dead was busy signing autographs as well.

Some of the fans had incredible costumes

such as this Predator costume,

Ghost Busters guys,

"Blondie" from the new movie Sucker Punch

and even Ed the Sock!

And also on hand were the great ladies of Toronto Roller Derby, who skated throughout the hall!

Anime Con

Hobbystar Marketing, the guys running Fan Expo and a previous Comic Con, held an Anime Con at the Metro Convention Centre this weekend, and they had a full house of visitors!
The room was full of retailers selling various products to the fans.

And throughout the room there were lots of Cos-play costumed fans, enjoying the event, and having a good time hanging out.

Some of the costumes were pretty elaborate, such as this guy in a double axe costume!

Also on hand was a big display of the new movie Sucker Punch, with girls handing out suckers to the fans!

Performance World

The Performance World show was recently held at the International Centre. When I first got interested in motorsports, this was the first show I went to. From that first show, I've noticed that the racing portion has decreased, while the "tuner" portion has only increased.
This year was the same, but even more noticeable was that the show itself is getting smaller.

Some of the racing included Sunset Speedway,

including NCATS driver Mark Dilley;

the #4 car of Bill Mason from the Ontario Legends;

Oshweken driver Rob Disher

Scott Gibson,

Canadian Vintage Modified drivers Gary Elliot,

and Jim Sweers

OSCAAR driver Shane Gowan

Flamboro driver Russ Aicken and Brad Collison

Hinbest drag racing

which is sponsored by Fast Eddie, who also had a booth of both safety equipement and crew uniforms and shirts.

The Brampton chapter of Prostate Cancer Canada also was on hand with Senior Moments Dragster.

Also on hand was an old style racer, the kind you see in the old movies. Its amazing the "pit crew" equipment that they used, including a small oil can and a glass jar!

Painting has become a big thing now, and that goes for racing helmets,

to even welding helmets!

And being a car show, there were lots of models on hand!

Some eating:

some chewing gum:

and a whole lot more just hanging around!
