A sun day on fathers day

Sunday saw the threat of rain for most of the day, but that did not discourage me from grabbing my bike and heading down to Toronto. I parked myself in the underground parking at City Hall (cause if it rained, i wanted to head under cover if I had to unpack everything and head out!), and saw that nothing was going on there, so I headed over to Yonge Dundas and was rewarded with lots of things going on, most connected with NXNE.

For a penny, you could help yourself to a Monster Beverage, handed out by these lovely ladies!

If you wanted another form of food energy, there was free samples of Ben & Jerry's ice cream,

or a chocolate mustache courtesy of Phillips!

I then biked my way up north to Bloor St, just west of Bay for the Yorkville Car Show. Lots of money was on display, like this row of german engineering!

All the cars were protected by a crack team of security agents!

Of course all those cars wouldn't be as interesting without some "pit babes"!

Also in the area was this lovely Carabram girl, in a great costume,

A gorgeous girl enjoying the great cars!

While Cartier had this very beautiful woman inviting you into their store,

And Wind Mobile had free cotton candy available for the kids!

I wasn't the only "media" around, as Global TV had a crew wandering the site doing spot interviews with some of the many on hand to see the cars.

I headed back to Yonge Dundas, and found even more women on hand, including these four jagermeister models,

Moosehead girls were on hand to pour you a cold one

 

or you could try out some "twisted tea" for something a little different on a hot day!

Now, what this guy was doing, I really just don't know!

Playstation was also in the square, letting you know about their system.

And speaking of playing, it was NXNE and playing on stage was Marie Hines. She has a great voice, and it was great to hear her sing, all the while playing a piano.

She had some cd's available, and I was lucky to meet her a pick up two of her disks.

Heading over to Queen and John, it was MMVA time at Much Music. Lots of people on hand, and lots of agencies out advertising themselves to those perfect demographics, young teens!

At the show itself,  CTV's Ashley Rowe was introducing the start of the event.

I think I saw someone famous, but who knows!

After that I headed to David Pecaut Square for the Toronto Symphony outdoor concert featuring the 1812 Overture, all part of Luminato. On hand were members of the Fort York Guard.  

They marched onto the stage at the begining of the event.

Also as part of Luminato, there were audience members dressed in period costumes enjoying the concert.

There was a good sized crowd on hand to enjoy the music.

 

And with that, I called it a day!

Green Fashion

After visiting Wizard World, took a quick trip to the Direct Energy Centre to check ou the Green Living Show. One great feature was that if you brought electronic waste, you got a free ticket into the show. Dead VCR in hand, I picked up my ticket and headed in. Now, there is lots going on at the show, inlcuding solar power, hybrid/electric cars, organic foods, organic clothing, etc, but I was there for the Green Fashion Show! Ok, this wasn't a fashion show made up of green fabric, but was an attempt to lower the impact of fashion on the environment, by reusing fabrics, give new use to old fashion, as well as lowering the chemicals used in fabrics.

Hosted by Kelly Drennan, Founder of Fashion Takes Action, a number of models were on hand, with makeup and hair (by salonWORLD) done in a "sustainable" way.

Now these models are doing the typical "icy cool" thing where there is no emotion, and no interaction with the audience. I never really understand that.











So, after seeing the models,



there was only one girl that stood out to me.



Now this girl is a very attractive woman, but what really caught my eye was exactly that, her eyes! She made specially note to make eye contact with me during the show. Ok, it was the camera, but she did this all around the event, as she moved from the stage, into the audience. This gave me a connection to her, and honestly, I paid more attention to her than any of the other women. And considering this is a fashion show, don't you, as a designer, want me to pay attention the most to the girl wearing your clothes? I would think so!

2 wheel models

One thing you can always find at the Motorcyle show is Models, and I don't mean the newest version of the bikes, I mean the flesh and blood versions!

One group that can always be counted on is Amsoil, as they are at a lot of shows with models, including these four!





Honda had a few models, including one of my favourites, Theresa, a model/sunshine girl who I've seen around lots of shows in Toronto.





Lots of other booths had some models as well!
