Fan Expo

It was Fan Expo weekend in Toronto, as everyone who had a costume put it on and headed down to the Metro Convention Centre.

cool eyes!

A couple of nerd loving babes were also on hand!

One of my favourites was this Steam Punk version of Buzz Lightyear!

And those who have made their living by putting on an costume on the big and small screen were drawing even more down to the event.
Some of the stars included

Hayden Panettiere

Eliza Dushku

Lee Majors

Barbara Eden

Here's a lucky fan with his signed albulm and a jeanie bottle!

Larry Hagman

Nichelle Nicohols

Marina Sirtis

Lexa Doig

Lance Henriksen

Malcolm McDowell

and my personal favourite from the show,
Katee Sackhoff

Katee was the new Starbuck on Battlestar Galactica, as well as in the Bionic Woman, 24, Nip Tuck, and will be in a new series, Longmire, on A&E

In the afternoon I joined the line to get her autograph, and decided I would pony up the the $50 to get her autograph and photo (I need a new christmas card!). I handed my camera over to my brother, got up to the table, and talked to the dude taking the cash. I said Photo please, he said when, I said now, he turned to the evil media lady to his left, who said "no photos with Katee, it's in her contract, you have to come back and have a professional do it!" I'm like WHAT the FRACK! (sorry, couldn't resist!)
Stupid, so I got my money back, and walked away without even talking with Katee :(

Oh well, you can follow her on Twitter.

Comic Con number two!

In a suprise to me move, the owners of Fan Expo, Hobbystar, decided to have a Comic Con over two days, instead of last years one, and more importantly, it was free admission. Well, its not really free if you have to pay 20 bucks to park, but heck, thats true for most events!

Usually these events attract a large number of costumes, and while there were some, I didn't really see too many.

The guests were Alan Ruck, most famous as Cameron Frye from Ferris Bueller's Day Off, as well a character in a Star Trek movie,

Dominic Keating,who played Lieutenant Malcolm Reed on the Star Trek series Enterprise, and Richard Hatch, known to most as the Original Capt Apollo of Battlestar Galactica!

Richard hosted a Q&A sesion where he talked about whats new in his life, what projects he was involved with, and what he felt about some of the other versions of BSG.

One of the biggest things to me was his comment about the original creater of the show, Glen Larson. He apparently provided the rights to the new show, with a condition that if a movie was not made within a certain time period, that those rights would revert back to Glen. That has happened, and he is now working on a remake, not a reimage, a remake of the original BSG, directed by Brian Singer, of X-Man fame.

And of course, I couldn't resist picking up a few autographs from him, as I've been a fan of the show for years. And yes, I do love both versions (I'm not counting Galactica 1980!)

Some of his projects include;

The Pod;
The Great War of Magellen;
and Who the Frak!

He even took some time during the show to check out this guys autograph table!
